legal end user license agreement
ChainLayerTwo End User License Agreement
What you agree to when you install or use the ChainLayerTwo software.
Version 2026-10-01. This agreement is between you and the operator of ChainLayerTwo ("we", "us") and covers the ChainLayerTwo command-line software and everything it connects you to (the "Software"). It works together with the Website Terms of Service. By installing, running or signing in to the Software, or by clicking "I agree", you accept this agreement. If you do not accept it, do not use the Software.
1. The short version
- You are responsible for what you build and what you do. ChainLayerTwo is a tool. You decide what to ask it, what to approve, what to run and what to publish, and you answer for the results.
- AI output can be wrong, unsafe or infringing. Check it before you rely on it.
- We provide the Software as it is, with no warranty, and our liability is limited as set out below.
- You release us from claims about what you make and do with it, and you agree to resolve disputes individually, not in court as part of a class.
The rest of this agreement is the detail. If anything in this summary conflicts with the numbered sections, the numbered sections control.
2. License
We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use the Software for your own lawful purposes. The Software may include third-party and open-source components; those are licensed under their own terms, which apply to those components. Nothing here transfers ownership of the Software or of our names, logos or marks to you.
3. What you may not do
You agree not to:
- use the Software to break the law, to harm or attack systems, networks or people, or to access anything you are not authorized to access (security testing and reverse engineering are permitted only on systems and software you own or have written permission to test);
- remove or hide notices, or misrepresent where the Software came from;
- reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract source code of the parts of the Software we do not publish as source, except to the extent the law allows despite this restriction;
- resell, share or publish access keys, tokens or sign-ins, or get around rate limits, quotas, approval gates or other controls of the hosted gateway or the account service;
- overload, probe or abuse our servers or the servers of any provider the Software connects to.
We may suspend or end your access if we reasonably believe you are doing any of these.
4. You are responsible for what you make and do
This section is the heart of this agreement.
- Your inputs and outputs. You are solely responsible for the prompts, files, code, commands, tools and settings you give the Software, for everything the Software writes, generates, edits, deletes or runs at your direction or with your approval, and for anything you publish, ship, sell, deploy or otherwise do with any of it.
- Your machine and your approvals. The Software can read and change files and run commands with your permissions. Approval prompts, sandboxes, previews and policies are aids, not guarantees. You decide what to approve. Keep backups.
- Dual-use and sensitive work. Some tools you may use (reverse engineering, automation, trainers, mods, security tooling) can be misused. Misuse is on you. You are responsible for having the right to do what you do, and for following the laws, licenses, platform rules and agreements that apply to you and to the things you work on.
- Third parties' rights. You are responsible for making sure that what you create, copy, train on or publish does not infringe anyone's rights or break any law.
As between you and us, we claim no ownership of what you make with the Software, and you own your inputs and the outputs you are entitled to, subject to the rights of others and to the terms of any model or service provider you choose.
5. AI output is not advice and not a guarantee
The Software uses AI models. They can produce output that is incorrect, incomplete, insecure, offensive or that resembles someone else's work, and they can take actions you did not expect. Output is provided for you to review. It is not professional, legal, security, medical or financial advice. You are responsible for testing and reviewing it before you use it, and for how you use it.
6. Models, providers and add-ons you connect
The Software can connect to models, servers, plugins and tools that we do not control (for example local models, cloud providers, MCP servers, and engines such as Unreal, Unity or Blender). Your use of them is subject to their own terms and privacy practices. What you send to them leaves our control. We are not responsible for them, for what they do, or for what you choose to connect.
7. Data and privacy
- Without an account the Software works from your machine; what you send to a model or provider goes to the one you choose.
- With the hosted gateway, requests are processed by us and by the upstream providers that serve the model you pick.
- With an account we hold your email, your sign-in tokens and the settings of your account.
- Cloud sessions (off until you turn them on) store the sessions you choose to save: the conversation text and tool names (or only a summary, if you choose that), with credentials removed before upload. System prompts, images, file paths and tool arguments are not sent. You can read, export and delete them in your account.
- Presence (signed-in accounts). While you are signed in and the Software is running, it tells the account service that a session is online: an anonymous session id, your device name, the Software version, whether it is working or idle, and when it started. It never includes your conversations, files or commands. The operator can see how many sessions and accounts are online. You can switch this off with
/presence off. - We use this information to run, secure and improve the service, to enforce these terms and to comply with the law. We do not sell it.
8. No warranty
THE SOFTWARE AND ALL OUTPUT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. Some places do not allow some of these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT THE LAW ALLOWS, WE AND OUR CONTRIBUTORS, SUPPLIERS AND LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, LOST REVENUE, LOST OR CORRUPTED DATA, LOST OR DAMAGED FILES OR PROJECTS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR THE COST OF SUBSTITUTE GOODS OR SERVICES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THE SOFTWARE, ANY OUTPUT, OR WHAT YOU MAKE OR DO WITH THEM, EVEN IF WE WERE TOLD THEY COULD HAPPEN. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO THE SOFTWARE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF WHAT YOU PAID US FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AND ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (US$100). These limits apply whatever the legal theory (contract, tort, negligence or anything else). Nothing in this agreement limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Release of claims and indemnity
- Release. To the fullest extent the law allows, you release us and our contributors, suppliers and licensors from any claim, demand or liability, known or unknown, that arises out of or relates to what you make, generate, publish or do with the Software or its output, to your choices of prompts, tools, approvals, providers and add-ons, and to the use of the Software by anyone you let use it. You agree not to bring such claims against us.
- Indemnity. You will defend, indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, damages, losses and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) brought by anyone else and arising out of what you make or do with the Software or its output, your content, your breach of this agreement, or your violation of any law or of another person's rights.
11. Resolving disputes
- Talk first. Before starting any claim, you agree to tell us about the problem and give us 30 days to try to resolve it.
- Individual arbitration. Except for the exceptions below, any dispute between you and us arising out of or relating to this agreement or the Software will be resolved by binding arbitration on an individual basis, not in court and not by a jury.
- No class actions. You and we may bring claims only in an individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or member of any class, collective or representative proceeding.
- Exceptions. Either of us may bring an individual claim in small-claims court, and either of us may seek an injunction in court to stop misuse of intellectual property or of the service.
- Where the law does not allow this, the parts that are not allowed do not apply to you, and the rest still do.
- Governing law. This agreement is governed by the laws of the place where the operator of ChainLayerTwo is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the law of your home country gives you rights that cannot be waived.
12. Updates, changes and ending this agreement
We may update the Software and this agreement. When the agreement changes in a way that matters, we will ask you to accept the new version before you continue; using the Software after that means you accept it. You may stop using the Software at any time. We may suspend or end your access for breach or abuse. Sections 4 to 11, and anything that by its nature should survive, survive the end of this agreement.
13. General
- You must be old enough to form a binding contract where you live, and at least 18, to accept this agreement.
- This agreement and the Website Terms of Service are the whole agreement about the Software. If a part is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a right is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer this agreement; we may.
- You will follow export, sanctions and other laws that apply to your use of the Software.
